Melissa Lipsett, Baptist World Aid Acting CEO writes, "As I look at the images in Afghanistan of the Taliban’s return to power, I am heartbroken. How many mothers are trying desperately to comfort their children as families flee or hide from the fear moving across their country? Yet, I am reminded of Isaiah 66:13: ‘As a mother comforts her child, so will I, the Lord, comfort you.’

While we grieve the pain in Afghanistan, our hearts are also heavy with other recent news—Haiti’s earthquake, rising COVID deaths of children in Indonesia, chaos in Beirut and ongoing conflict in Myanmar and Ethiopia—and we cannot forget them either. God doesn’t forget.

We know as followers of Jesus that God promises to comfort those in pain, those who grieve and lament and suffer injustices or catastrophes. And we know he calls us to pray for those experiencing such atrocities."

Global Interaction is privileged to partner with Baptist World Aid in this event.

God hears the cries of His people. We invite you to join with us in lifting up the people of Afghanistan in prayer. Please click here to register. You will receive the Zoom link directly from Baptist World Aid.

Grace and peace,
