Exploring Mission is about discipleship. It is designed to connect you to God’s global vision, and to help you find your place in it. Everybody has a role in this story.

Exploring Mission recognises that you are already living, learning and working in intercultural contexts. It’s a lived experience. We also recognise that our world is rapidly changing and therefore intercultural mission must keep pace. An outdated approach to global mission simply will not cut it!

Term 3 2024: The Biblical Arc of Mission

Our next unit of Exploring Mission begins on Monday 2 September and runs each Monday night in September from 7-8:30 pm on Zoom (AEST).

Our Topic is 'The Biblical Arc of Mission.'  Christ Wright once wrote, “The whole Bible is a missional phenomenon. The writings that now comprise our Bible are themselves the product of and witness to the ultimate mission of God.” God initiates and sustains mission; the Scriptures are the story of God at work in mission, and the Church is invited to participate in God’s mission. With this in mind, we will examine the major themes of the Bible and how they relate to our mission in the world.

  • Mon 2 Sept: Creation (Geneses 1 – 3)
  • Mon 9 Sept: Promise (Genesis 12 – Malichi)
  • Mon 16 Sept: Redemption (Matthew – John)
  • Mon 23 Sept: Church (Acts 1:8)
  • Mon 30 Sept: Renewal (Revelation 22)

The Basics

What is Exploring Mission?
Exploring Mission is a 5 Unit pathway to help you explore how God is calling you to engage in intercultural mission. It involves engaging with a wide range of issues in theology, mission, context, culture and the Gospel.

Exploring Mission is experienced as an online learning community that gathers from around the country and beyond, with a common heart to grow in their participation in God’s mission. In 2024 we will be covering three units; Unit 1: Spiritual Formation for Mission,Unit 2: Culture and Context, and Unit 3: The Biblical Arc of Mission.

Each Unit has 5 sessions which run on consecutive Monday Nights from 7:30pm - 9:00pm (AEST/ AEDT).

Who is Exploring Mission for?

Exploring Mission is for anyone who wants to explore questions such as:
  • What is God doing in the world?
  • What is my role in God’s mission?
  • What does intercultural mission in Australia look like?
  • Where is God calling me now?
  • How can I be trained and equipped for what God has for me in the future?
Exploring Mission is for people who want to understand and support global missions, for people considering becoming intercultural team members in the future, and for anyone who wants to better engage in intercultural ministry in their local neighbourhoods and suburbs.

Exploring Mission is facilitated by Baptist Mission Australia, the global mission arm of the Australian Baptist church. These are the foundations for Baptist Mission Australia's ministry:
